Recap: Colorado vs. Oregon State
Boulder, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Terron Ward ran for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries for the Oregon State Beavers as they edged out the Colorado Buffaloes 36-31 in a Pac-12 matchup at Folsom Field.
Sean Mannion completed 27-of-37 pass attempts for 278 yards and a touchdown for the Beavers (4-1, 1-1 Pac-12). Caleb Smith caught four passes for 67 yards and a score.
Sefo Liufau threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns on 32-of-49 passing for the Buffaloes (2-4, 0-3), and he was intercepted once as the team bowed for the third time in four tries. Tyler McCulloch caught four passes for 76 yards and both scores.
Ward opened the scoring midway through the first quarter with a four-yard rushing touchdown. Storm Woods doubled the advantage shortly after with a four-yard TD run of his own.
The Buffaloes got on the board a few minutes later on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Liufau to McCulloch, cutting the deficit to 14-7.
OSU's Trevor Romaine converted a 38-yard field goal just before the end of the first quarter to make it 17-7.
A few minutes into the second quarter, Michael Adkins II ran 12 yards for a touchdown to pull the Buffaloes closer at 17-14.
Romaine converted another field goal, just before the end of the first half to make it 20-14 in favor of the Beavers.
The Buffaloes pulled ahead 21-20 in the final minute of the half, thanks to a one-yard TD run by Tony Jones.
Midway through the third quarter, Romaine knocked through his third field goal of the contest, a 47-yard effort, to put the Beavers back in front 23-21.
In the first minute of the fourth quarter, Smith hauled in a 24-yard touchdown pass from Mannion to add to the Beavers' lead, but Colorado kicker Will Oliver converted a 44-yard field goal a few minutes later to cut the lead to 30-24.
With 5:09 left to play, Ward ran 10 yards for his second touchdown, capping a 12-play, 85-yards drive that consumed nearly six minutes. The visitors went for a two-point conversion, but Mannion's pass fell incomplete.
With three minutes left, McCulloch grabbed his second touchdown on a 17-yard pass from Liufau, cutting the deficit to 36-31. The Buffaloes got one more possession before the end of the game, but they turned the ball back over on an incomplete pass on fourth down.Game Notes
