Recap: Fresno State vs. San Diego St

Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marteze Waller rushed for 67 yards and scored on one three touchdowns for the Fresno State Bulldogs as they toppled the San Diego State Aztecs, 24-13, in a Mountain West Conference collision at Bulldog Stadium.

Brian Burrell threw for 143 yards and was intercepted once but also tallied 51 yards and a score on the ground for Fresno State (3-3, 2-0 MWC). He completed 14-of-28 pass attempts. Josh Harper finished with 76 yards on five receptions.

Nick Bawden only completed 9-of-24 pass attempts for 84 yards and was picked off twice, although he did have a touchdown pass for San Diego State (2-3, 1-1). Donnel Pumphrey rushed for 94 yards on 24 carries.

A 37-yard field goal from Kody Kroening midway through the first quarter pushed Fresno State to an early 3-0 lead.

With his first carry of the contest Brandon Connette scored on a one-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter.

A 24-yard field goal from Donald Hageman in the beginning of the second quarter put on the Aztecs on the scoreboard.

Hageman added a 36-yard field goal midway through the third quarter, allowing the Aztecs to inch closer.

The Bulldogs responded with a two-yard touchdown run from Josh Quezada late in the period.

San Diego State wasn't going down without a fight, however, as Bawden threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Adam Roberts early in the fourth quarter.

Fresno State was able to quell any comeback hopes thanks to a five-yard touchdown run from Waller with just over three minutes to play.

The Bulldogs had a 315-270 advantage in total yards.
