Recap: Colorado State vs. Utah State

Fort Collins, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Garrett Grayson passed for 243 yards, and Jared Roberts connected on three of his four field goal attempts, including the game winner as time expired to lift the Colorado State Rams to a 16-13 win over the Utah State Aggies in a Mountain West Conference showdown at Hughes Stadium.

Grayson completed 20-of-31 passing in the game for Colorado State (6-1, 2-1 MWC), which has now won five consecutive games. Dee Hart carried the ball 12 times for 60 yards and a touchdown, and Rashard Higgins caught 10 passes for 187 yards in the win.

Darell Garretson completed 14-of-19 passing for 132 yards and an interception for Utah State (4-3, 1-1), which ended a two-game win streak with the defeat. Joe Hill rushed the ball nine times for 64 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Hart put the first points up on the board for Colorado State with a one-yard rushing score with 13:40 remaining in the opening period. But Utah State answered back not even four minutes later on a 59-yard Hill touchdown run that knotted the score at 7-7.

Nick Diaz gave the Aggies a 10-7 lead when he hit a 25-yard field goal with 4:22 to play in the first period.

The two teams went into the half tied at 10-10 thanks to a Roberts 52-yard field goal with 4:50 left in the second frame.

No team scored in the third quarter, but Diaz hit a 32-yard field goal just 40 seconds into the fourth quarter to give the Aggies a 13-10 lead following an eight-play drive.

Roberts responded with 1:50 to play in the contest by booting a 46-yard field goal through the uprights to knot the score at 13 apiece.

Grayson drove his team down the field, and with four seconds remaining, Roberts drilled a 46-yard field goal for the win as time expired.

Colorado State had the edge in offensive yards, 318-260, but was flagged 11 times in the contest for 116 yards. The only turnover in the game belonged to Utah State and Garretson.
