Recap: Toledo vs. Bowling Green

Toledo, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Kareem Hunt ran for a career-high 265 yards and scored twice as the Toledo Rockets held on for a 27-20 win over the Bowling Green Falcons in Mid-American Conference action at the Glass Bowl.

Hunt carried the ball 30 times for the Rockets (7-4, 6-1 MAC) as they generated 325 yards and tallied four touchdowns on the ground, en route to their third win in the last four outings. Dwight Macon finished with just 30 net rushing yards, but still found the end zone twice for the hosts.

Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside converted 8-of-18 for a mere 53 yards, was picked off twice and sacked two times.

The Falcons (7-4, 5-2), the leaders in the East Division of the MAC, saw quarterbacks James Knapke and Cody Callaway to combine for 12-of-37 for 187 yards, the latter being sacked three times. Ronnie Moore accounted for 64 yards and a score on the ground, as well as three receptions for another 46 yards and a TD as the team had a two-game win streak come to an end.

Hunt scored the first points of the night in the opening quarter when he capped a 10-play, 71-yard drive with a two-yard TD run, although the squad failed to convert on the PAT.

Two minutes later BGSU kicker Tyler Tate connected on a 23-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 6-3.

Toledo's lead ballooned to 13-3 when Macon reached the end zone on a two-yard run of his own in the second frame, but the Falcons responded only minutes later with a 10-yard TD by Moore, making the score 13-10 at the break.

In the third quarter, Hunt erupted for a 91-yard TD run at the 4:36 mark, as the Rockets doubled-up on BGSU at 20-10.

Refusing to go away, the Falcons knotted the score at 20-20 thanks to a 31- yard field goal by Tate in the third and Moore's 17-yard TD catch from Callaway less than two minutes into the fourth.

With plenty of time left on the clock, the Rockets took the lead when Macon found his way across the goal line from seven yards away and from there the defense took over and secured the win for the hosts.

The Falcons converted only 6-of-18 on third down and were held to 291 yards of total offense.
