Recap: Northern Ill vs. Toledo

DeKalb, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Cameron Stingily rushed for two touchdowns and 81 yards on 21 carries to help lead Northern Illinois to a 27-24 victory over Toledo on Tuesday.

Drew Hare threw for 190 yards and a touchdown on 14-of-22 passing and also rushed for 66 yards on 16 totes for the Huskies (8-2, 5-1 MAC), who won their fourth straight game.

Da'Ron Brown hauled in three passes for 73 yards and a score, while totaling 64 yards on two rushes in the win.

Dwight Macon was the main source of Toledo's offense as he completed 8-of-11 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 97 yards and two scores on 18 carries.

Quarterbacks Logan Woodside and Michael Julian each completed two passes for a total of 20 and 49 yards, respectively, and Corey Jones finished with four catches for 102 yards and a score for the Rockets (6-4, 5-1), who entered the game with wins in five of their last six games.

Macon's 1-yard plunge into the end zone pulled the Rockets within 20-17 just past the midway point of the third, but Stingily's 2-yard score capped an 11- play, 82-yard march for a 27-17 Northern Illinois lead with 6:33 left remaining.

After each team punted, Kareem Hunt began Toledo's drive with a 23-yard scamper and Macon ran for 20 yards to the Huskies' 25 before capping the drive with a 3-yard TD rush for a 27-24 with 2:14 to play.

Northern Illinois went three-and-out, but only after it chewed up most of the clock to seal the outcome.

Christian Hagan's 37-yard field goal and Brown's 64-yard TD catch gave the Huskies a 10-0 lead in the first. Jones hauled in a bomb of his own, a 69-yard grab, to tie the game after Jeremiah Detmer's 21-yard field goal with just over five minutes to play in the first half.

Hagan split the uprights from 19 yards out prior to the half and Stingily found the end zone on a 4-yard run to give the Huskies a 20-10 advantage early in the third.
