Recap: Texas State vs. Louisiana

San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Elijah McGuire caught an early touchdown pass and put the finishing touches on a dominant win with a rushing score later in the game, as Louisiana-Lafayette crushed Texas State, 34-10, in a Sun Belt showdown on Tuesday.

Terrence Broadway completed 14-of-21 passes for 225 yards, a touchdown and a pick and also ran for 113 yards for Louisiana-Lafayette (3-3, 2-0 Sun Belt), which has won two straight following a three-game slide. Alonzo Harris carried the ball 18 times for 79 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Tyler Jones threw for 176 yards but was kept out of the end zone until the final minute, when he hooked up with Brice Gunter for a 33-yard touchdown with the game well out of reach.

McGuire ran a wheel route out of the backfield on the second play of the game and Broadway hit him for a 62-yard touchdown that gave the visitors early momentum.

Will Johnson put the Bobcats on the board with a field goal to open the second, but Jones was sacked a few minutes later and the ball came out. Christian Ringo recovered the loose ball and ran 41 yards for a defensive score.

McGuire's 36-yard carry down to the Texas State 1 set up Harris' TD that made it 21-3 at halftime.

McGuire found the end zone again early in the third, when he capped an 11-play drive with a 13-yard score.

Hunter Stover kicked a pair of field goals, and it was 34-3 before Gunter's touchdown capped the scoring.
