Not even four minutes into the start of the third quarter, Jones was sacked in the end zone for a safety that gave the Warhawks the 15-0 lead.

Texas State finally got on the board with 5:49 left to play in the third period when Lowe carried the ball into the end zone from 15 yards out to cut the ULM lead to 15-7.

Manton extended the Warhawks' lead even further with a 28-yard field goal to give his side the 18-7 lead. The kick came with 1:06 to play in the third quarter.

With 6:50 to play in the contest, Jones found Franks for a 40-yard touchdown pass completion. Jones ran in the ensuing two-point conversion, which cut the ULM lead to 18-15.

Texas State took its first lead of the game, 22-18, with 3:29 to play when Lowe took a handoff 21 yards for his second touchdown of the contest. That score served as the game-winning and final margin.
