Recap: Tulsa vs. So Florida
Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike White and Andrew Davis hooked up for three touchdowns after halftime, as the South Florida Bulls rallied to a 38-30 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in American Athletic Conference action at Chapman Stadium.
White completed 17-of-26 pass attempts for 272 yards and had an interception go with his three scoring throws for USF (3-4, 2-1 AAC). Davis hauled in six passes for 154 yards and the three scores, while Marlon Mack piled up 130 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Dane Evans threw for 314 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-34 passing for Tulsa (1-6, 1-2). Keevan Lucas brought in half of Evans' completions and finished with 160 yards and a touchdown. Zack Langer rushed for an even 100 yards, while Bishop Louie had 51 yards and a score on only three carries.
Austin McDaniel returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown to get Tulsa's scoring underway.
The Bulls responded with a 34-yard touchdown run from Mack less than two minutes later.
The rest of the first quarter belonged to the Golden Hurricane, with Carl Salazar connecting on a 31-yard field goal and Louie scoring on an 18-yard touchdown run.
Tulsa struck again early in the second quarter when Evans hooked up with Lucas for an eight-yard touchdown strike.
The Golden Hurricane closed out the first half with a 19-yard field goal from Salazar.
Mack got the Bulls off to a quick start in the second half, scampering 54 yards for a touchdown less than two minutes into the third quarter.
Salazar connected on a 32-yard field goal midway through the frame, but the Bulls continued to chip away when White threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Davis.
White and Davis hooked up for another 15-yard scoring strike early in the fourth quarter, as the Bulls continued to pick up steam.
USF finally pulled ahead with just over six minutes to play when White teamed up with Davis for an 85-yard touchdown pass.
Marvin Kloss tacked on a 28-yard field goal with 2:33 remaining to give the Bulls an even bigger cushion.
Tulsa had a chance to even the score, but its final drive stalled when Evans threw three straight incompletions from the Golden Hurricane's 33-yard line.
USF scored on five of its seven second half possessions after doing so once in seven tries in the first.Game Notes
