Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Steve Addazio has been named the new head football coach at Boston College.
The 53-year-old Addazio heads to the Heights after just two seasons as Temple's head coach, during which he compiled a 13-11 record with one bowl berth.
He fills the slot vacated by Frank Spaziani, who was fired on Nov. 25 after the Eagles finished 2-10, their worst record since a winless campaign in 1978. Spaziani turned in a 22-29 mark over his four-year tenure with BC, including three bowl appearances with one victory.
Addazio will be formally introduced at a press conference scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on Wednesday.

For the native of Connecticut, it will be a return to his New England roots.
Addazio began his coaching career under Paul Pasqualoni at Western Connecticut State from 1984-87. He followed with a brief tenure in high school coaching before returning to the college ranks at Syracuse alongside Pasqualoni in 1995. Stints with Notre Dame and Indiana followed before a highly-successful six-season run with the Florida Gators from 2005 through 2010.
Addazio had taken the reins at Temple in place of Al Golden, who departed for Miami-Florida.
