Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - The University at Buffalo and head football coach Jeff Quinn have agreed to a five-year contract extension to keep Quinn with the Bulls through the 2017 season.

"Jeff and his staff have poured their hearts and souls into building this program, and we are both excited and optimistic about our future under their leadership," director of athletics Danny White said in a statement. "To be sure, we feel that the foundation is in place to have a breakout season in 2013."

Buffalo got off to a 1-7 start this season, but Quinn and the Bulls have turned it around in November, winning three straight games as they head into their season finale on Friday at Bowling Green.

The Bulls have improved in each season since Quinn took over in December of 2009, going 2-10 in 2010 before putting together a 3-9 mark in 2011.

"I want to thank Danny White and president (Satish K.) Tripathi for the confidence that they have placed in me and my coaching staff," Quinn said through the school. "We are working diligently with our student-athletes both on and off the field to make the University and our fans very proud of us."
