Chattanooga, TN (Sports Network) - University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football coach Russ Huesman announced the hiring of Jeff Durden as the Mocs' new offensive coordinator Tuesday.

Durden was previously the offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at James Madison, where he spent the last nine seasons. His hiring at Chattanooga requires final approval from the university.

"I coached against Jeff when I was at Richmond and always liked what they did offensively," Huesman said. "His teams were always well-coached and hard to defend. Jeff's approach is in line with what we are trying to do here, and I think it will be a smooth transition for both our coaches and players."

James Madison won the 2004 FCS (then NCAA I-AA) national championship during Durden's first season as offensive coordinator. The Dukes had a winning record in all nine of his seasons.

Durden also has been an offensive coordinator at VMI and Morehead State, and coached at California (Pa.), West Georgia and Georgetown (Ky.), his alma mater, earlier in his career.

Chattanooga finished 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the Southern Conference this past season.
