Boiling Springs, NC (Sports Network) - New Gardner-Webb University football coach Carroll McCray announced his nine-member assistant coaching staff on Tuesday.

McCray appointed former Campbell head coach Dale Steele as offensive coordinator. The defensive coordinator duties went to McCray's younger brother, Randall. The two new coordinators have a combined 50 years experience in college coaching.

Inside linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator Travis Cunningham, who has been with the Gardner-Webb program since 2001, was retained to McCray's staff.

The other six assistants spent the 2012 season with McCray at North Greenville University. They are assistant head coach and offensive line coach Kenny Ray; quarterbacks coach Brett Nichols; receivers coach La'Donte Harris; defensive line coach Issac Mooring; outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator Brett Hickman; and cornerbacks coach Rocco Adrian.

McCray, a 1983 graduate of Gardner-Webb, replaced Ron Dickerson Jr. as head coach of the Big South Conference program. Dickerson stepped down last month following two seasons and a 7-15 record.
