Grambling State football sets 2013 schedule

Grambling, LA (Sports Network) - Grambling State's football program will play four home games and visit Louisiana-Monroe as part of a 12-game schedule in 2013.

The Tigers, coming off a 1-10 season just one year after winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship, will kick off their season at home in their conference opener against Alabama A&M on Aug. 31.

They also will host Lamar (Sept. 28) from the Southland Conference and Texas Southern (Oct. 26) and Mississippi Valley State (Nov. 2, Homecoming) in SWAC games.

Coach Doug Williams' squad will make the short trip to Monroe to take on Sun Belt Conference member Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 7.

The Tigers will play Division II Lincoln (Sept. 14) at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., and rivals Prairie View A&M (Oct. 5) in the State Fair Classic at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas and Southern (Nov. 30) in the Bayou Classic at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

In addition, they will play conference road games at Alabama State (Sept. 21), Alcorn State (Oct. 12), Jackson State (Oct. 19) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 9)
