Hampton to play five at home in 2013

Hampton, VA (Sports Network) - Hampton University's football program will open the 2013 season at Western Illinois and play five home game as part of a 12- game schedule.

The Pirates will open the season - their fifth under head coach Donovan Rose - with an Aug. 29 visit to Western Illinois of the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

Hampton will play home games against Tennessee Tech (Sept. 14) of the Ohio Valley Conference and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rivals North Carolina A&T (Oct. 12), Delaware State (Oct. 26), North Carolina Central (Nov. 9) and Howard (Nov. 23).

The Pirates' other road games will be against William & Mary (Sept. 7) of CAA Football and Coastal Carolina (Sept. 21) of the Big South Conference as well as MEAC opponents South Carolina State (Sept. 28), Norfolk State (Oct. 19), Morgan State (Nov. 2) and Bethune-Cookman (Nov. 16), the reigning conference champion.

The Pirates finished with a 3-7 record, including 3-5 in the MEAC, this past season.
