Heinicke, Robertson headline All-CAA

Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Old Dominion sophomore quarterback Taylor Heinicke and James Madison junior linebacker Stephon Robertson were named the CAA Football offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively, on Monday.

Heinicke, a Walter Payton Award finalist, has thrown for an FCS-high 4,158 yards and 35 touchdowns. In ODU's 64-61 win over New Hampshire, he set Division I records with 791 yards of total offense and 730 passing yards.

Robertson, a Buck Buchanan Award finalist, ranks third in the CAA with 101 tackles. He also posted 8.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups.

Both players were All-CAA first-team selections.

Other CAA winners were Villanova's Andy Talley for coach of the year, William & Mary senior punt returner B.W. Webb and Georgia State junior kick returner Albert Wilson for special teams co-players of the year, Villanova quarterback John Robertson for offensive rookie of the year and Delaware linebacker Jeff Williams for defensive rookie of the year. New Hampshire senior Chris Zarkoskie was named the winner of the CAA's first-ever Chuck Boone Leadership Award.
