Miami, FL ( - Another postseason college football game will hit the landscape next year, as the Miami Beach Bowl will begin play in 2014.

A team from the American Athletic Conference will play an opponent from the Sun Belt, Mid-American or Conference USA at Marlins Park. The Marlins' baseball stadium sits on the site of the old Orange Bowl and opened in 2012.

"We are excited to bring postseason football back to Miami," said American Athletic Conference commissioner Mike Aresco in a statement Thursday. "The Miami Beach Bowl fulfills our goal of providing postseason opportunities in desirable locations that are easily accessible for our fans. This state-of-the art venue will provide a great stage for our student-athletes and institutions."

The AAC, which comprises some members of the old Big East, also has bowl ties with the Military Bowl, Beef 'O'Brady's Bowl, BBVA Compass Bowl, Armed Forces Bowl, Hawaii Bowl and the recently added Boca Raton Bowl and Bahamas Bowl.
