Savannah State sets 12-game schedule

Savannah, GA (Sports Network) - Savannah State will play a difficult slate of non-conference games in leading up to its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference schedule this year.

Steve Davenport will enter his third season as head coach of the Tigers as they look to improve on last season's 1-10 mark. They will play 12 games this season.

Savannah State will visit FCS national power Georgia Southern (Aug. 31) and both Troy (Sept. 7) and Miami-Florida (Sept. 21) from the FBS level in non- conference play. The Tigers also will host Fort Valley State (Sept. 14) in their home opener at Theodore Wright Stadium.

Within the MEAC, Savannah State will host Delaware State (Sept. 28), Florida A&M (Oct. 12), North Carolina Central (Oct. 26, Homecoming) and South Carolina State (Nov. 2).

The Tigers also will visit MEAC opponents Norfolk State (Oct. 5), Bethune- Cookman (Oct. 19), Howard (Nov. 9) and North Carolina A&T (Nov. 26).
