Phoenix, AZ ( - For the first time in his 15-year pitching career in the major leagues, Bronson Arroyo will be spending time on the disabled list.

The Arizona Diamondbacks shelved the veteran right-hander prior to Monday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers due to tendinitis in his throwing elbow.

The move comes less than 24 hours after Arroyo battled through discomfort to pitch five innings and help the Diamondbacks to a 6-3 victory over Los Angeles at Dodgers Stadium. He held the Dodgers to just one run on five hits to win his third consecutive start.

Arroyo, who broke into the majors with Pittsburgh in 2000, had gone 369 starts without a DL stint. It was the second-longest active streak among pitchers, trailing only Toronto's Mark Buehrle's 443.

The 37-year-old has started at least 29 games in each of the previous 10 seasons.

Arroyo has posted a solid 2.95 earned run average during his current win streak and tops the Diamondbacks' staff with seven victories in his first season with the organization. Through 14 overall outings this year, the onetime All-Star has compiled a 7-4 record with a 4.08 ERA.

Outfielder Roger Kieschnick was recalled from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move.

Kieschnick, who went 0-for-7 during a four-game run with Arizona in late April, was batting .280 with nine homers and 29 RBI in 59 games for the Aces.
