Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks avoided arbitration with outfielder Gerardo Parra by coming to terms on a one-year contract for the upcoming season, the team announced Tuesday.

Financial terms were not disclosed. CBSSports.com had previously reported that Parra had been seeking a salary of $2.7 million, with the Diamondbacks making an initial offer of $2.1 million.

Parra has started at least 90 games for the Diamondbacks in each of the last four seasons and has batted .280 with 23 home runs, 172 RBI and 36 stolen bases over that stretch. The 24-year-old hit .273 with seven homers, 36 RBI and 15 steals over 133 games in 2012.

A strong defensive player as well, Parra's 37 outfield assists since 2009 are the second-most in the National League, and he received a Gold Glove for his work as Arizona's primary left fielder in 2011.
