Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Arizona Diamondbacks infielder Eric Hinske had his suspension reduced from five games to one game.

Hinske's suspension was for aggressive action during the brawl between the Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers that occurred on June 11 at Dodger Stadium. He immediately appealed it and statements from Dodgers players agreed that he was not a participant in the fight.

Hinske said his agent informed of him of Major League Baseball's decision. The league decided to reduce the suspension after looking at new video.

His appeal was set to be heard this week but he has decided to drop it and will serve the one-game ban on Tuesday night, as Arizona opens a three-game series in Washington.

"Part of me still wants to appeal it because I feel like I did nothing wrong," Hinske said. "But bringing it down four games is drastic. It's a pretty fair thing and the union wanted me to take it so I agreed, thought it was the right thing to do and I'm going to serve it today."

With right-handed pitcher Ian Kennedy in the process of serving a 10-game suspension, the Diamondbacks will have just 23 players on the 25-man roster.

The 35-year-old Hinske is batting .173 with a home run and six RBI this season.
