Sarasota, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Baltimore Orioles officially announced the signing of pitcher Suk-Min Yoon on Monday after the Korean league standout successfully passed a physical.

MLB.com reported Thursday that Yoon, a former Korean Baseball Organization MVP, agreed to a three-year contract worth $5.75 million.

The 27-year-old Yoon pitched nine seasons with the Kia Tigers in his native Korea and earned All-Star honors three times (2008, '09, '11) over that stretch. He led the KBO in wins (17), earned run average (2.45) and strikeouts (178) en route to winning the league's MVP award in 2011.

Yoon also captured the KBO ERA title in 2008 and has compiled a 73-59 record with a 3.19 ERA over his pro career. He went 3-6 with a 4.00 ERA in 30 games with Kia last season, splitting time between the rotation and the bullpen.

The right-hander also led South Korea to its first-ever baseball gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a runner-up finish at the 2009 World Baseball Classic. In five lifetime WBC appearances, Yoon has gone 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA over 16 innings.

According to MLB.com, Yoon is still in the process of obtaining a work visa which will allow him to participate in the Orioles' upcoming spring training games.
