Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a five-year, $32.5 million contract with front-of-the-rotation starter Chris Sale.

The left-hander's salary over the course of the five years will escalate from $850,000 in 2013 to $12 million in 2017. The deal also includes club options for the 2018 ($12.5 million) and 2019 seasons ($13.5 million).

"We are thrilled to be able to reward Chris for his accomplishments thus far in his career and to keep one of the best young starters in the league in a White Sox uniform for potentially the next seven years," said Rick Hahn, White Sox senior vice president/general manager.

Sale, who turns 24 later this month, was inserted into the rotation last season after beginning his career in the bullpen. He made 29 starts and one relief appearance in 2012, going 17-8 with a 3.05 ERA and 192 strikeouts.

The 13th pick in the 2010 draft, Sale made his major league debut with the White Sox later that season, compiling a 1.93 ERA and four saves. He went 2-2 with eight saves and a 2.79 ERA in 58 games the following year.
