Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - The Baltimore Orioles have claimed pitcher Todd Redmond off waivers from Cincinnati.

Redmond made his big league debut with the Reds last season, starting an August game against the Cubs. He took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings.

The 27-year-old right-hander has appeared in 207 minor league games, all but seven as a starter, in eight seasons with organizations for Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Cincinnati. He owns a minor league mark of 71-61 with a 3.58 ERA.

The Orioles designated outfielder Trayvon Robinson for assignment to open a spot on the 40-man roster. Robinson, who batted .215 in 90 big league games for Seattle over the past two seasons, was acquired from the Mariners in November for Robert Andino.

Baltimore also announced that catcher Luis Martinez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Norfolk. He will join the Orioles in spring training as a non-roster invitee.
