Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Cleveland Indians right-hander Brett Myers has been diagnosed with elbow tendinitis and a mild sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing arm.

The news came one day after the club placed Myers on the 15-day disabled list with what was originally deemed right elbow inflammation.

Myers left his start versus the Houston Astros on Friday after five innings and returned to Cleveland to be evaluated.

The 32-year-old veteran will not be able to throw for at least two weeks, and will only be allowed to throw once his symptoms subside.

Myers is 0-3 in four appearances, including three starts, this season with an 8.02 earned run average over 21 1/3 innings.

In other roster news on Monday, the Tribe activated pitcher Matt Albers from the restricted list and designated pitcher Fernando Nieve for assignment.

Albers was 1-0 with a 5.40 ERA in four appearances this season, while Nieve was 0-1 with a 1.38 ERA in three games -- one start -- for Triple-A Columbus.
