Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - For the third time this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers have placed outfielder Matt Kemp on the 15-day disabled list.

Kemp's latest trip to the DL stems from a sprained left ankle he sustained Sunday, the same day he was activated from his previous DL stint for left AC joint inflammation.

The two-time All-Star was injured in the ninth inning of the Dodgers' 7-2 victory over the Washington Nationals when he appeared to roll his ankle on a play at the plate.

Kemp, who has missed 37 games already this season, was batting .263 with five home runs and 27 RBI.

To replace Kemp on the roster, the Dodgers activated pitcher Ted Lilly from the 15-day DL.

Lilly last pitched for the Dodgers on June 4, when he was tagged for five runs -- four earned -- on six hits over four frames in a no-decision against San Diego.

The 37-year-old southpaw was placed on the DL with a neck strain on June 5 before making two rehab starts with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, where he went 1-1 with a 10.80 earned run average.

Overall, Lilly has gone 0-2 with a 5.09 ERA in five starts with the Dodgers this season.
