Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was removed from Wednesday's contest against the Colorado Rockies an inning after crashing into the right field wall.

Puig made a sensational catch on a deep fly ball from Nolan Arenado in the fifth, but slammed awkwardly into the wall on the play. He stayed grounded for several moments and appeared to be clutching his leg.

He remained in the game after doing some warm-up runs, and provided a sacrifice fly in the sixth. However, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly replaced him in the field in the bottom of the frame. Skip Schumaker took over in left field and Andre Ethier shifted over to Puig's spot in right.

The team announced that Puig bruised his left hip and muscles of his thigh when he hit the wall. Precautionary x-rays came back negative and he is day- to-day.

Puig ended the night 1-for-3 and also scored a run. The 22-year-old Cuban phenom is batting for an incredible .440 with eight homers and 18 RBI in 28 games this season.
