Minneapolis, MN ( - The Minnesota Twins announced on Tuesday that Hall of Famer Paul Molitor has been added to manager Ron Gardenhire's staff.

Molitor will oversee base running, bunting and infield instruction. He will also assist with in-game strategy from the dugout.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004, Molitor played a combined 21 seasons for the Brewers, Blue Jays and Twins. He had a career .306 batting average with 234 home runs and 1,307 RBI.

His 3,319 career hits is good enough for ninth on the all-time list, while his 605 career doubles ranks him 11th all-time. He was a seven-time All-Star and the MVP of the 1993 World Series with Toronto.

The Minnesota native was last part of a major league staff in 2004 when he was the hitting coach for the Seattle Mariners. He also served as a big league coach for the Twins in 2000 and 2001 under Tom Kelly.
