New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Mets and third baseman David Wright reportedly agreed to a multi-year contract extension early Friday.

According to WFAN radio, the new deal, which begins in 2014, will lock up Wright for seven additional years at $122 million. He is set to make $16 million in the final year of his existing contract next season.

Wright batted .306 with 21 home runs, 41 doubles and 93 RBI in 156 games and earned his sixth career All-Star selection last season, his ninth with the franchise.

Since breaking into the majors in 2004, the southern Virginia native has compiled a .301 average, 204 homers, 322 doubles and 818 RBI over 1,262 contests. Wright also holds the club record for total hits with 1,426.
