Mexico City, MX (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Rodriguez spoke with media members in Mexico at a promotional appearance Wednesday and acknowledged the possibility of sitting out the 2014 season.

Rodriguez has taken legal action in his attempt to play in 2014, filing a lawsuit against Major League Baseball and the players union in an effort to have an arbitrator's ruling of a 162-game suspension for PED use overturned.

Rodriguez, speaking in Spanish, wouldn't discuss the details of the legal issues, but hinted about missing all of the 2014 campaign.

"I think that in the year 2014, the league could have done me a favor because I've played 20 years without a timeout," Rodriguez told the assembled media. "I think 2014 will be a year to rest mentally and physically prepare myself for the future and begin a new chapter of my life."

Rodriguez said he had support from other players, including his New York Yankees teammates and some Hall of Famers, and added he was hoping to begin anew in 2015.

"I have three years left on my contract starting in 2015 and I hope to play very well and finish my career in New York," he stated.

Arbitrator Fredric Horowitz reduced Rodriguez's suspension from an original 211 games to 162 in a ruling last Saturday.
