Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired pitcher Vin Mazzaro and first baseman Clint Robinson from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a pair of minor league pitchers Wednesday.

The Royals received left-hander Luis Rico and righty Luis Santos in the deal.

Mazzaro split last season with Triple-A Omaha and the Royals, pitching to a 4-3 record with a 5.73 ERA in 18 games (six starts) with the big league club.

He went 2-2 with five saves and a 3.63 earned run average over 22 games (eight starts) with the Storm Chasers.

Robinson hit .292 with 37 doubles, 13 home runs and 67 RBI in 131 games for Omaha last season.

He also made four pinch-hit appearances for Kansas City, going 0-4 with two strikeouts.

Pittsburgh designated infielders Yamaico Navarro and Matt Hague for assignment to make room on the roster for Mazzaro and Robinson.
