Bradenton, FL (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates and pitcher Jose Contreras have agreed to terms on a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Contreras, 41, is recovering from elbow surgery and will be rehabbing during major league spring training.

The veteran right-hander appeared in just 34 games over the past two seasons with Philadelphia due to forearm and elbow injuries.

Over 10 seasons, the Cuban native owns a 78-67 record with a 4.55 earned run average in 292 games (175 starts) with the Yankees, White Sox, Rockies and Phillies.
