New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - San Diego Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner won and Cleveland Indians hurler Vinnie Pestano lost Saturday in baseball's first salary arbitration cases in two years.

Cashner will collect $2.4 million from San Diego this season rather than the club's offer of $2,275,000. Pestano, one of four Cleveland players left in arbitration, will take home $975,000. Pestano requested $1.45 million.

Indians outfielder Michael Brantley, along with pitchers Justin Masterson and Josh Tomlin, are among 13 players still up for arbitration. In total, 146 players filed last month and hearings are still scheduled through Feb. 20.

Other players with pending cases include NL saves leader and Atlanta closer Craig Kimbrel, Boston southpaw Andrew Miller, Kansas City pitcher Greg Holland, Oakland outfielder Josh Reddick, Seattle first baseman Justin Smoak, Texas first baseman Mitch Moreland, Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen and Nationals reliever Tyler Clippard.

The last player to go to a hearing was Garrett Jones in February 2012, which he won. Teams hold a 292-215 advantage in decisions since arbitration began in 1974.
