Giants avoid arbitration with Blanco, Petit and Abreu

San Francisco, CA ( - The San Francisco Giants avoided salary arbitration with three of their five eligible players on Friday, agreeing to terms for the 2014 season with outfielder Gregor Blanco, pitcher Yusmeiro Petit and utilityman Tony Abreu.

Blanco batted .265 with three home runs, 41 RBI and 14 stolen bases with the Giants last season, his second in San Francisco since signing with the club prior to the 2012 campaign.

Over five seasons in the majors, the 30-year-old Blanco has compiled a .257 average with 20 triples, 10 homers, 128 RBI and 66 stolen bases in 535 games with Atlanta, Kansas City and San Francisco.

Petit posted a 4-1 record with a 3.56 ERA over eight games,(seven starts) for San Francisco in 2013.

The 29-year-old right-hander owns a career 14-21 mark with a 5.20 ERA in 80 games, including 44 starts, over six seasons with the Marlins, Diamondbacks and Giants.

Abreu appeared in 53 games with San Francisco last season and batted .268 with two homers and 14 RBI. He's a career .256 hitter with six homers and 60 RBI in 221 games over five seasons with the Dodgers, D-backs, Royals and Giants.
