Chicago, IL ( - The Seattle Mariners activated outfielder/designated hitter Corey Hart from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

Hart had been sidelined for more than six weeks with a strained left hamstring he sustained at Minnesota on May 18. The offseason acquisition just completed a 10-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, during which he hit .297 (11- for-37) with one home run, three doubles and four RBI.

The 32-year-old, who missed the entire 2013 campaign recovering from surgery on his left knee, signed a one-year contract with the Mariners in December after a nine-year tenure with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Hart homered five times and drove in 17 runs in 37 games prior to going on the DL, but owns just a .209 average and struck out 31 times in 139 at-bats.

Outfielder Cole Gillespie was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. The 30-year-old journeyman hit .254 with one home run and five RBI in 34 games with the Mariners.
