St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals agreed to terms on a two-year contract with utilityman Ty Wigginton on Friday.

Although financial terms of the pact were not released, it is believed to be worth $5 million.

"Wigginton gives us that right-handed bat with punch that we were looking for," said Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak. "He's a veteran player who offers versatility and depth to our roster."

Wigginton, 35, appeared in 125 games for the Philadelphia Phillies this past season and hit .235 with 11 home runs and 43 RBI, while playing first base, third base and some outfield.

The right-handed swinging Wigginton has a career .263 batting average with 169 home runs, 242 doubles and 591 RBI in 1,315 games for the New York Mets, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, Houston, Baltimore, Colorado and Phillies.
