St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays re-signed reliever Joel Peralta to a two-year contract on Tuesday. The deal also includes club options for 2015-17.

The 36-year-old Peralta has been very durable for the Rays, pitching in at least 71 games in each of the last two seasons. In 2012, he went 2-6 with a 3.63 earned run average and recorded a career-high 84 strikeouts.

"We love Joel's competitiveness and the impact he has on the younger pitchers in our bullpen," said Rays executive vice president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman. "He has been an integral part of our late-inning success and has proven that he can get big outs in the American League East."

The right-hander has compiled a 3.94 ERA in 407 career games with the Angels, Royals, Rockies, Nationals and Rays.
