Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers signed pitchers Daniel Bard and Armando Galarraga to minor league contracts on Monday.

Bard made just two appearances with the Red Sox last season due to a lengthy stay on the disabled list. The Cubs claimed him off waivers on Sept. 4, and he became a free agent after the season. He had surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome on Jan. 2 and is expected to be limited at spring training.

Boston tried to move Bard into the starting rotation in 2012, and he went 5-6 with a 6.22 ERA in 17 games (10 starts).

In 211 career games with the Red Sox, Bard was 10-19 with a 3.67 ERA.

Galarraga returns to the Texas organization, where he made his major league debut in 2007. He was originally acquired by the Rangers in the Alfonso Soriano trade with Washington on Dec. 8, 2005.

Last season, he combined to go 6-8 with a 3.64 ERA in 23 starts at Triple-A Louisville (Reds) and Colorado Springs (Rockies).

The 32-year-old Galarraga is 26-34 with a 4.78 ERA over 100 career games (91 starts with Texas (2007), Detroit (2008-10), Arizona (2011) and Houston (2012).

He posted a career-high 13 wins for the Tigers in 2008. The right-hander was deprived of a perfect game by an incorrect call made by umpire Jim Joyce in the top of the ninth inning with two outs against Cleveland on June 2, 2010.
