Rangers sign Baker, Robertson

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers signed infielder/outfielder Jeff Baker and pitcher Nate Robertson to minor league contracts on Saturday.

Baker, 31, played with the Cubs, Tigers and Braves last season and combined for a .239 average with four home runs and 25 RBI.

Over eight seasons in the majors, which included four-plus seasons with Colorado, he has clubbed 37 home runs and 178 RBI with a .266 average in 543 games.

Robertson, 35, hasn't played in the majors since 2010. He is 57-77 with a 5.01 ERA over 223 games (187 starts) with Philadelphia, Detroit and Florida in nine seasons.

Both players will take part in spring training for the team.
