Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers have signed former All-Star pitcher Evan Meek to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Meek had spent his entire big league career with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was an All-Star in 2008. He appeared in just 12 games last season, posting a 6.75 earned run average in 12 innings.

The 29-year-old right-hander owns a career record of 7-7 with a 3.34 ERA in 156 relief appearances.

Texas also agreed to minor league deals with pitchers Randy Wells and Jake Brigham, as well as first baseman Brandon Allen.

Wells was 1-2 with a 5.34 ERA in 12 games for the Chicago Cubs last season. The 30-year-old right-hander is 28-32 with a 4.08 ERA in 98 games, including 86 starts, with the Cubs (2008-12) and Toronto (2008).

Brigham, sent by the Rangers to the Cubs in the July 31 trade for Geovany Soto, was again acquired by Texas late last month. He was then non-tendered last Friday.

Allen has a career .203 average in 116 games with Arizona, Oakland and Tampa Bay. He appeared in 10 games with Oakland and Tampa Bay last season.
