Nationals sign Young, Alfaro to minor league deals

Washington, DC ( - The Washington Nationals signed pitchers Chris Young and Gabriel Alfaro to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training.

This past season, Young spent all his time in the minors due to injuries. He went 1-2 with a 6.81 ERA over nine starts.

In 159 career starts with the Rangers, Padres and Mets, Young is 53-43 with a 3.79 ERA.

In 2013, Alfaro went 4-3 with a 2.71 ERA in 53 relief appearances with Oaxaca of the Mexican League.
