Recap: Los Angeles vs. Arizona

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Patrick Corbin and three Arizona relievers combined to two-hit the Los Angeles Dodgers as the Diamondbacks completed their first three-game sweep at Chavez Ravine in five seasons with a 4-0 shutout.

Recalled from Triple-A Reno to start Wednesday's contest, Corbin (3-4) scattered a pair of singles over six innings opposite fellow rookie Stephen Fife (0-1) in the Diamondbacks' sixth consecutive win over the Dodgers.

Arizona, winners of 10 of 13 overall, closed the gap on the Dodgers in the NL West standings to 1 1/2 games. Los Angeles remained one game behind first- place San Francisco.

Miguel Montero homered, singled and drove in three runs for the Diamondbacks. Paul Goldschmidt collected three hits and Chris Johnson added a solo home run.

"We pitched well and swung the bats. We're coming together," said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson.

Matt Kemp and Fife supplied the hits for Los Angeles, which was swept at home by Arizona for the first time since August 3-5, 2007.

"This series scared me going in," admitted Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly. "They hurt us with the long ball, and we couldn't put any runs on the board."

Shane Victorino went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his Dodger debut. Victorino, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies prior to Tuesday's trade deadline, batted leadoff and played left field.

Montero plated the Diamondbacks' first run in the second inning. After Goldschmidt led off with a single, catcher A.J. Ellis dove in foul territory to snag a ball bunted by Justin Upton. Goldschmidt alertly took second on the play and scored on Montero's grounder up the middle.

Johnson went deep two frames later, and Montero launched a two-run homer over the center-field wall in the eighth.

Game Notes

Fife gave up two runs on six hits and walked three in 4 1/3 innings...Los Angeles designated veteran outfielder Bobby Abreu for assignment prior to Wednesday's game to make room for Victorino. Abreu batted .251 with two home runs and 17 RBI in 70 games with the Dodgers after being signed as a free agent on May 4.
