Recap: Philadelphia vs. Miami

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Hanley Ramirez hit two home runs and knocked in three runs as the Miami Marlins defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4, in the middle test of a three-game set at Citizens Bank Park.

Ricky Nolasco (6-3) allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five over seven-plus innings to earn the win.

Heath Bell stranded the tying run on second base in the ninth to record his 11th save of the year as the Marlins won for the sixth time in eight games.

Cole Hamels (8-2) was trying to become the first nine-game winner in the majors, but was touched for five runs on seven hits and two walks in 6 2/3 innings to absorb the loss.

Both of Hamels' losses this season have come against the Marlins.

"We were facing one of the best pitchers in the game right now and we handled it pretty well," Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen said about Hamels.

Hunter Pence homered and knocked in two runs for Philadelphia, which had its two-game win streak snapped.

Miami trailed, 3-0, entering the fourth inning before Ramirez got the Marlins on the board with a leadoff home just over the left-center field wall that was initially reviewed for fan interference, but the call was upheld.

Logan Morrison later singled and rounded the bases on Justin Ruggiano's double to right-center field to bring Miami within a run.

Ramirez then followed Omar Infante's infield single in the sixth inning with his second homer of the game to put the Marlins on top, 4-3.

Miami added a run in the seventh when Chris Coghlan walked, advanced to second on a Nolasco sacrifice bunt and came home on Jose Reyes' double into the left- field corner, knocking Hamels out of the game.

Jimmy Rollins led off the home eighth with a triple to right field before Juan Pierre walked on four pitches to end Nolasco's day. Steve Cishek entered in relief and after Pierre stole second, Pence sent a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Rollins and moving Pierre to third.

Pierre was stranded there, as Carlos Ruiz and Ty Wigginton both went down swinging around a Shane Victorino walk to keep it a 5-4 game.

Placido Polanco led off the ninth with a single off Bell and pinch-runner Mike Fontenot moved to second on Freddy Galvis' sac bunt to place the tying run on second base with one out.

But Bell induced back-to-back infield pop ups by pinch-hitter Brian Schneider and Rollins to end the game.

"We had baserunners all day. We just couldn't get it done," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said.

Philadelphia took a lead in the bottom of first inning when Pierre slapped a one-out single to center and advanced to second on a Pence walk before stealing third and crossing the plate on Ruiz's groundout to first.

Polanco singled, moved to third on a Galvis double down the first-base line and came home on a Rollins infield single in the second inning. Pence's leadoff blast into the right-field bleachers in the third increased the Phillies lead to 3-0.
