Recap: St. Louis vs. Milwaukee

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Adam Wainwright tossed his 10th career complete game and St. Louis got homers from Carlos Beltran and Jon Jay in a 6-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Wainwright (9-10), who went the distance for the second time this season, yielded five hits and struck out seven without allowing a walk.

"What I really liked about tonight was how sharp he was with his fastball," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said. "In the past, we've seen a lot of breaking balls be the difference-maker. But I thought he was an artist with his fastball and painting both sides (of the plate)."

Yadier Molina had a two-run single during a four-run third inning, helping the Cardinals win for the eighth time in their last 11 contests.

Mark Rogers (0-1) gave up seven hits and five runs over five innings in Milwaukee's second straight loss following a three-game winning streak.

"Everything they hit was perfectly-placed, whether it was a ground ball in between us, and there were some bloops to center that really hurt him," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said.

Ryan Braun drove in the only run for the Brewers, who have lost a season-high eight straight road games.

Carlos Gomez doubled to start the game and he scored on Braun's sacrifice fly to center.

The Cardinals tied the game on Beltran's 25th homer of the year in the second on a video review call that was overturned. Beltran's ball caromed off the right field wall and he raced into third with a supposed triple.

A separation of padding on the wall and the LED board above it resulted in two different rulings. Since Beltran's hit bounced off the LED portion, it was considered a home run.

Back-to-back doubles from Daniel Descalso and Wainwright in the fourth gave the Cardinals the lead. Wainwright's hit went to the gap in left-center. Allen Craig's base hit to left, past the dive of shortstop Cesar Izturis, plated Wainwright for a 3-1 advantage, and the Cardinals continued the rally after singles from Matt Holliday and Beltran.

With the bases full and two outs, Molina lined a single over the head of a leaping Izturis.

Jay homered to right in the sixth.
