Recap: Atlanta vs. Toronto

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Tommy Hanson pitched eight strong innings, Dan Uggla hit a three-run home run and the Atlanta Braves downed the Toronto Blue Jays, 5-2, in the second of a three-game interleague set at Turner Field.

Hanson (7-4) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk to lead the Braves to their sixth straight win.

"I threw well, there were a ton of good plays and it was a total team effort. That's got to be one of my favorite games I've ever played in," said Hanson.

Craig Kimbrel tossed a perfect ninth inning to record his 18th save of the year.

Drew Hutchison (5-3) gave up five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6 1/3 innings to take the loss for Toronto, which dropped its third consecutive game.

Jose Bautista accounted for the Blue Jays' offense by smacking his 17th homer this season.

Atlanta stranded a runner on third in the first inning but was able to break through in the third when Uggla hammered a three-run home run over the center- field wall.

Michael Bourn singled and Brian McCann worked a two-out walk prior to Uggla's 11th homer of the year.

Toronto was able to close the gap to 3-2 in the sixth inning when Bautista followed Colby Rasmus' two-out single with a blast into the left-center field bleachers.

But the Braves regained their cushion in the seventh inning, starting with Andrelton Simmons leading off the frame with his first career home run.

After Jose Constanza followed with a bunt single and moved to second on a Hanson sacrifice bunt, Yan Gomes entered in relief of Hutchison and Bourn slapped his second pitch down the left-field line for an RBI double, giving Atlanta a 5-2 edge.

Hanson then tossed a perfect eighth inning before Kimbrel retired the side in order in the ninth to seal the win for the Braves.

"He just threw pitches and he mixed it up well and just threw strikes. So when you get ahead in counts and make good pitches you're going to get outs and that's what he did," Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie said about Hanson.

Game Notes

Bourn extended his hit streak to nine games...Blue Jays left fielder Rajai Davis left the game in the fifth inning after jamming the middle finger on his left hand during a swing in his last at-bat...Hanson improved to 7-2 in 10 career interleague starts...Atlanta now leads the all-time series between the teams, 15-14.
