Recap: Seattle vs. Cleveland

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Jack Hannahan's two-run single in the ninth spoiled a beautiful outing from Seattle's Felix Hernandez as Cleveland took a 2-1 win over the Mariners in the finale of a three-game set.

Hernandez pitched eight innings and gave up just five hits and a walk with 12 strikeouts, but Brandon League (0-1) blew the save in the ninth.

Carlos Santana worked a walk to lead off, Travis Hafner followed with a single and, following a sacrifice bunt, Shelley Duncan walked to load the bases. Hannahan then hit a single to left to score two runs for the final margin.

Chris Perez pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his fourth save of the season.

Josh Tomlin (1-1) also pitched well as he got his first win of the season after giving up just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts over eight innings for the Indians, who have won five of six.

"I was able to work my pitches, I was able to throw my pitches for strikes and not get too cutter happy," said Tomlin. "I think having a good changeup today was key. I definitely feels good to have an outing like that."

John Jaso drove in the lone run of the game for the Mariners, who got two hits and a run scored from Michael Saunders and have lost four of seven.

Santana hit a two-out double in the fourth, but Hernandez got Hafner to ground out and end the frame.

The fifth inning saw Seattle take the lead as Saunders led off with a double, moved to third on Miguel Olivo's sac bunt and came home off a fielder's choice from Jaso.

Hernandez left the bases loaded in the eighth when he struck out Jason Kipnis and Shin-Soo Choo to keep the Indians off the board.

"(Felix) had bases loaded with one out and, Felix does what Felix does, put up a zero on the board and unfortunately I couldn't do the same in the ninth," said League.

Game Notes

Seattle hosts Chicago for three games starting on Friday...Cleveland travels to Oakland for three contests beginning Friday...Hernandez was one strikeout short of his career high.
