Recap: Chicago WSox vs. Seattle

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - DeWayne Wise drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out, sixth-inning single, and the Chicago White Sox held on for a 5-4 win over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

In Friday's series opener, Wise scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth after Chicago squandered a five-run lead in the top of the frame.

On Saturday, Tyler Flowers led off the sixth with an equalizing home run and Alexei Ramirez followed with a double to drive Blake Beavan (8-8) from the mound.

"It was a good night for Flo," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said.

Ramirez moved to third base on a groundout and Wise followed an infield fly out with a single up the middle off of Charlie Furbush to give the White Sox the lead.

The Mariners, who had won eight straight games entering the series, loaded the bases with two down in the seventh when Matt Thornton gave up a leadoff single to Dustin Ackley and later hit Kyle Seager with a pitch and walked Justin Smoak.

Brett Myers entered and induced John Jaso into a soft line out to second baseman Gordon Beckham, then worked around a pair of singles in a scoreless eighth.

In the bottom half, Alex Rios led off with his 30th double of the season, advanced to third on Flowers' bunt single, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramirez.

Addison Reed gave up a two-out homer to Seager in the ninth -- his second of the game -- then allowed a single to Smoak before popping out Jaso to record his 24th save of the season.

"We had some mistakes late in the ball game there today," Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. "We played pretty good baseball, but the last couple of innings we didn't do a very good job."

Jose Quintana got the start for the AL Central-leading White Sox and allowed five hits -- including Seager's first-inning, three-run homer -- with four walks and four strikeouts over 5 2/3 frames.

Nate Jones (6-0) relieved Quintana with runners on first and second and retired Brendan Ryan to end the sixth.

The White Sox, who will look for the sweep on Sunday, have won five straight games and lead the Detroit Tigers by 2 1/2 games in the division.

Wise began the first inning with a single, stole second and crossed the plate on Paul Konerko's single to left field.

In the third, Kevin Youkilis led off with a single, moved up on Konerko's walk, and slid into home ahead of Miguel Olivo's tag when Rios slapped a base hit to right.

Game Notes

Beavan was charged with four runs on seven hits in five-plus innings. He lost his only previous outing against Chicago earlier this season ... Home plate umpire Lance Barrett ejected White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski and Ventura in the third inning for arguing a called ball.
