Recap: Los Angeles vs. Washington

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Chris Capuano struck out nine over 6 2/3 scoreless innings, as the Los Angeles Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals with a 2-0 decision on Sunday.

James Loney knocked in both runs for the Dodgers, while Capuano (3-0) gave up just three hits and two walks in the win.

Kenley Jansen walked two in the ninth but struck out the other three batters he faced to record his second save of the year.

Despite setting a new Nationals record for consecutive scoreless innings at 25 and otherwise pitching well, Gio Gonzalez (2-1) was the tough-luck loser. He allowed both runs on three hits and five walks with seven punchouts.

Washington was swept for the first time this season and has dropped four straight for the first time since losing six in a row from August 23-28, 2011.

Solid defense contributed to a pitcher's duel early, including when Nationals prospect Bryce Harper, called up before Saturday's tilt, saved a run in the bottom of the fourth with a leaping grab against the right-center field wall.

Another premier Washington prospect, Tyler Moore, was recalled prior to the game and was in the starting lineup. He led off the fifth by dropping a single into the gap in right for his first major-league hit.

But Gonzalez got a bit wild in the sixth, and LA got to him. He walked Matt Kemp, Andre Either and Juan Uribe with one out, and Loney's bloop single broke the scoreless tie, bringing home Kemp and Either.

Jansen opened the ninth with six consecutive balls and put Adam LaRoche aboard, but came back to strike out Xavier Nady and then fanned Chad Tracy. After a long at-bat by Harper resulted in a free pass, Jansen got Jesus Flores to strike out swinging to end the game.
