Recap: Chicago WSox vs. Cleveland

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Jack Hannahan's go-ahead RBI double in the eighth inning lifted the Cleveland Indians to a 6-3 win over the Chicago White Sox in the middle test of a three-game set on Wednesday.

Carlos Santana smacked a three-run home run and Travis Hafner provided a two- run shot for Cleveland, which has alternated wins and losses over its last six games.

"It was a good game to win after we felt that we had plenty of opportunities earlier in the game," Cleveland manager Manny Acta said.

Joe Smith (1-0) picked up the win by tossing a scoreless seventh frame.

Philip Humber, who has struggled since his perfect game on April 21 against Seattle, allowed three runs on four hits and six walks in six innings for Chicago.

"I just want to get back to the basics and I think if I could do that, things are going to get better," Humber said.

Adam Dunn belted a solo homer and Alexei Ramirez added a two-run single for the White Sox, who have dropped six of their last eight contests.

The game was tied 3-3 after seven innings, but Cleveland plated a two-out run to go ahead in the eighth.

Will Ohman (0-1) retired the first two Indian batters in order, but then gave up a single to Michael Brantley and a walk to Casey Kotchman before being lifted for Addison Reed. Hannahan came up next and sliced a double down the left-field line to bring home Brantley.

Hafner added some insurance with a two-run shot in the ninth and Chris Perez worked a 1-2-3 bottom half of the frame to pick up his eighth save of the season.

It was scoreless after three innings before Chicago broke the tie on Dunn's solo opposite field homer into left-center field to make it 1-0.

The Indians, though, responded by putting three across with two outs in the fifth. Asdrubal Cabrera walked, Hafner singled and Santana launched a no-doubt three-run shot deep into the seats in right field for a 3-1 Cleveland advantage.

But the White Sox tied the contest with two runs in the bottom half of the frame. Dayan Viciedo and Brent Morel hit a pair of one-out singles and each moved up a base when Gordon Beckham grounded into a force out. Two batters later, Viciedo and Morel crossed the plate on Ramirez's line-drive single to left field, tying the game.

38-year-old Johnny Damon, who signed a minor league deal on April 17, made his Indians debut. He went 0-for-3...Josh Tomlin gave up three runs on five hits and two walks in six frames for Cleveland.
