Recap: Cleveland vs. Chicago WSox

Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Alex Rios tripled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th inning, as the Chicago White Sox posted a 5-3 win over the Cleveland Indians in the third installment of a four-game series at Progressive Field.

Paul Konerko singled off Chris Perez (0-1) to begin the 10th and pinch-runner Brent Lillibridge came around to score on Rios' second triple of the season. Rios then hustled home on a fielder's choice.

Addison Reed retired the Indians in order in the bottom of the frame to earn his second save.

Rios finished with three hits for Chicago, which snapped a three-game losing streak. The White Sox had lost four straight to their AL Central rivals, including Monday's split doubleheader.

Hector Santiago (1-1) worked the ninth to pick up his first major league win.

Carlos Santana hit a two-run single as part of a three-run eighth for the Indians, who had their winning streak halted at three games.

Down 3-0, the Indians orchestrated a comeback in the eighth. Chicago starting pitcher John Danks was relieved by Chris Sale after Casey Kotchman and Jack Hannahan both singled to open the frame.

Johnny Damon then reached on a fielding error by Alexei Ramirez, loading the bases for Jason Kipnis, who put Cleveland on the board with a groundout to first. After Sale walked Asdrubal Cabrera to reload the bases, Santana tied the game by sending Sale's 1-2 offering up the middle into center field.

Danks gave up two runs on five hits and three walks but White Sox manager Robin Ventura said he liked what he saw.

"He pitched great," said Ventura. "It's just baseball. There were a couple of weird-hit balls."

The White Sox jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Gordon Beckham hit a one-out single and advanced to third on a double by Adam Dunn before Konerko plated him with a groundout to third. A.J. Pierzynski followed with a run- scoring single to left field.

"My goal the rest of the way was to not let any more (runs) get on there so we had a chance to tie it up, which we did," said Indians starter Justin Masterson.

Chicago had chances to extend its lead but couldn't capitalize on Masterson's inability to throw strikes. The Cleveland right-hander walked the leadoff batter in the third, fifth and sixth. He walked a pair in each of the latter two innings.

The White Sox loaded the bases against Masterson's replacement, Dan Wheeler, in the seventh and plated only one run on a Pierzynski ground ball to first.

Game Notes

Masterson allowed two runs on six hits and five walks in six innings...It marked the third time this season Danks squared off with Masterson...The White Sox were 3-for-15 with runners in scoring position and stranded 10...Cleveland was 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.
