Recap: Oakland vs. Detroit

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Brandon Inge continued his tear with a three- run home run and four RBI as the Oakland Athletics crushed the Detroit Tigers, 11-4, in the second of a four-game set.

Over his past five games, Inge has homered four times, including two grand slams, and has driven in 16 runs. He has four, four-RBI games during that time and is the first player to accomplish that since Yankee great Lou Gehrig turned the feat in 1931.

Joining Inge in the outburst on Friday was Josh Reddick, who went 4-for-4 with a three-run and solo home run, five RBI and four runs scored for the Athletics, who had lost their previous two.

Tom Milone (5-2) gave up two runs -- one earned -- on five hits with a walk and six strikeouts over seven innings to grab the win.

"It's nice to be able to pitch in front of fans like that. We don't get that every game, but it's nice to have people cheering and you obviously want to do something good," said Milone.

Miguel Cabrera drove in a pair of runs while Rick Porcello (3-3) was touched for four runs on nine hits with three walks and four strikeouts over five innings for the Tigers, who have exchanged wins and losses over their past 12 games.

"He just got balls up in the strike zone and he paid for it a little bit," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said about Porcello.

Detroit got a run in the first when Cabrera hit into a double play to score Austin Jackson, but the A's answered in the home portion of the inning.

With two outs, Reddick kept the inning alive with a single and Kila Ka'aihue followed with an RBI double. Two batters later, Inge singled to right to bring home Ka'aihue for a 2-1 advantage.

The third inning saw the Tigers tie the game on a Cabrera RBI single, but Reddick led off the third with a home run and back-to-back doubles from Ka'aihue and Seth Smith made it a 4-2 game.

The sixth inning saw Inge continue his tear. Reddick singled in a run earlier in the inning and Smith singled to put men on first and second. Inge then launched a shot over the left-center wall for an 8-2 lead.

Reddick added a three-run home run of his own in the seventh to increase the score to 11-2.

Cabrera and Delmon Young hit RBI singles in the eighth to account for the final score.

Game Notes

Prior to the game, the A's recalled pitcher Andrew Carignan and outfielder Collin Cowgill from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Jim Miller and outfielder Michael Taylor to Sacramento...Each team won five games in the series last season...Porcello fell to 2-5 in eight career starts against the A's.
